Elderly Man Faces Child Sex Charges in Basehor, KS

Dorsey Aldridge Jr., 66 years old, is facing charges of two counts each of aggravated indecent liberties and indecent solicitation of a child in Leavenworth County Court.  These alleged crimes happened in his Basehor neighborhood during the month of May.

Like many other crimes that take place involving children, neighbors believed Aldridge to be a nice old man and didn’t consider him a danger.  Area children like to visit his home in order to play in a tree that is the only one in the area good for climbing.

The local police department began investigating in May, after school aged children started reporting a man had approached them to participate in unlawful sexual acts.  Aldridge was arrested at his home, and an unidentified woman said although she was relieved, she still worried about the psychological impact it may have on her children.

The children in question were elementary school age, which concerns parents and the community because children of this age do have an idea about what is happening to them, so the residual effects may be more severe.  Aldridge was being help in the Leavenworth County jail on a $50,000 bond.
